According to the Cisco Visual Networking Index, China's Internet traffic will grow 600 percent in the next two years. At that point, China will also be home to nearly a quarter of the world's broadband users and 21 percent of the world's connected devices. This substantial growth, combined with the country's rapid urbanization, opens the door to many new business opportunities.

In December 2012, China Electronics Software Information Service Co., Ltd and Cisco Systems, Inc. (Hong Kong) signed an agreement to form a joint venture to provide socially valuable solutions for smart cities and customers in the education, healthcare, and energy markets. The new organization will independently develop, build, and market in China new, international standards-based products for China; integrate those new products with existing technologies and create cloud-based solutions including cloud storage, cloud management and network transportation for public and private projects in China.

The candidate must be passionate about utilizing the state-of-the-art technologies and developing first class innovative technologies in design and building reliable and scalable infrastructure and new data platform for the collection and processing of very large amount of semi-structured and unstructured data . The infrastructure and data platform will provide standard interfaces for various applications to query and support analytics for the large data sets in a fashion that is transparent, efficient and secured. The candidate will need to work closely across an array of various teams and organizations in the company and industry (including product management, development, partners and customers).

The successful candidate will be the technical architect and point person for the new data platform. He or she must be able to lead innovation by exploring, investigating, recommending, benchmarking and implementing data centric technologies for the new data platform.

Responsibilities:
• Define requirements through customer engagement for end-to-end big data solutions
• Create innovative solutions to address challenging IT problems
• Design and build scalable infrastructure and platform to collect and process very large amount of data (semi-structured and unstructured), including streaming real-time data
• Lead and actively contribute to key data architecture "heavy" projects
• Mentor, consult, collaborate, review and support Engineering teams in product development and support
• Analyze and evaluate applicable emerging technologies for adoption
Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering, higher degrees preferred
• 10 + years of software development experience using multiple computer languages
• Experience in building database kernel, semi-structure and structured data management, and / or database related data processing technologies
• Strong knowledge in building large scale distributed data processing systems or middle-ware such as transaction processing, data replication, data caching, query processing, etc ...
• Experience in large-scale internet systems (cloud computing) engineering preferred
• Strong foundational knowledge and experience with distributed systems and computing systems in general.
• Ability to communicate in Chinese verbally is required, ability to read Chinese is preferable.
Hands-on engineering skills
• Experience with a range of big data architectures, including distributed database, Hadoop, Pig, Hive or other big data frameworks
• Broad understanding and experience of real-time analytics, structured data store, NoSQL data stores, data modeling and data management, analytical tools, languages, or libraries (eg SAS, SPSS, R, Mahout)
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to lead initiatives and people toward common goals.
• Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills
