Components within Global Engineering at Volvo Bus Corporation (VBC). The
department, CD71400, consists of 3 groups Chassis, BiW and Vehicle
Dynamics in total about 95 persons globally.
The team is responsible for development, design, documentation,
maintenance and quality follow-up of components in different systems on
buses such: Cooling system, Pneumatic system, fuel system and
encapsulation. Chassis Components is therefore an important area within
VBC. The team is global with members at several VBC Development sites,
totally about 25 designers across the world, 15 of these located in our
Gothenburg office.
Our operations can be broken down to platform and product
development, product maintenance, advanced engineering activities,
customer adaptations and quality. The team is system responsibility for
the Pneumatics System to support our operations.
Challenges and rewards:You will be expected to be a true driver, still very operative
together with your colleagues and will be trusted with great freedom
with target focus and high expectations of delivery. Our challenges
include satisfying the needs from a wide variety of customers while
meeting commonality, quality, after market, production and cost targets
on chassis and complete vehicle level. We work very integrated with
other functions locally and globally whereby communication and holistic
viewpoint is essential while keeping attention on details.
You will also be expected to take a function/component group
responsibility within the Chassis Components area. In this you will find
yourself challenged with taking a proactive stand in our technology
development and application of this to products.
The tasks varies from project work, where you will be part of a
project team, delivering technical solutions in cooperation with other
design engineers to maintenance work where the tasks are shorter and in
need of intensive focus. There is also involvement in advanced
engineering. The position is in the following technical areas of
engineering:
- Storage and distribution of media on chassis and in engine installation;
- Fuel system, AdBlue system, pneumatic system, cooling system, hydraulic fan drive system;
- Chassis equipment, Standard components like fittings, clamping, pipes, hoses etc.;
- Engine encapsulation, noise, heat and protection shields.

Requested education and experience:
- Experience from automotive design, production or manufacturing, preferably heavy vehicles;
- University Degree or Technical College Graduate in Engineering or extensive and adequate experience;
- Preferably knowledge in one or more of our areas mentioned above.
Deeper knowledge of pneumatics for heavy vehicles will be clear
advantage;
- Fresh knowledge of 3D CAD software and Product Data Management systems, preferably CATIA V5 and KOLA.
