- Provides technical leadership and manages staffing and recruitment
for hydro, dam, hydraulic structure and other related water resources projects;
- Specialists working in the team will include experienced project
engineers, civil and structural engineers, hydromechanical engineers, electrical and control systems engineers, hydrologists, hydraulic engineers, engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, cost engineers, work planners and schedulers, procurement specialists, and other support staff required to populate an engineering and construction or construction management team to implement a water resources project;
- Such projects will include features such as reservoirs, dams,
spillways, outlet works, pump and hydropower intakes, trash racks and screens, penstocks, hydroelectric powerhouses, pumping plants, pipelines, and all supporting infrastructure;
- Major capital equipment to be specified and procured as part of
project implementation will include hydraulic turbines and pumps, electrical generators, power transformers, governors, excitation equipment, control systems, protection equipment, and all ancillary powerhouse or pumping plant equipment;
- Projects falling within the purview of this hydro projects group
will range from moderate sized run-of-river hydropower projects to major dams and storage projects;
- Water supply projects will range from moderate sized pumping plants to major world-class facilities;
- Manages the performance of the project team and provides support to the business development teams;
- Responsible for the schedule and budget performance of reporting project teams;
- Responsible for the preparation, review and approval of
calculations, reports, memoranda, specifications and drawings relevant to the design, construction, and management of projects within the purview of the group;
- Prepares and delivers presentations to clients and the public
related to the project work the group is engaged in, and prospective project work in the business development context.
Basic Qualifications:
- M.S. degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on hydraulic structures and related heavy civil works;
- Chartered Engineer with substantial management experience in related engineering-construction fields;
- Working familiarity with hydroelectric power systems and their
operation, including the prediction and optimization of energy production and estimation of dependable capacity and other related parameters used by electric utilities in evaluating prospective projects and operating existing ones;
- Possess highly developed written and oral communications skills;
- Familiar with applicable International codes and standards.
