Xperia Z1 Gets Android 4.4.2 Port (from Xperia Z Ultra GP) [center]
Owners of a Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone interested in getting a taste of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system can now do so, courtesy of a ROM that has been ported from the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition. Soon after pushing the update to Xperia Z Ultra GP, Sony published the kernel source for it, which allowed modders to port it to other devices as well.
The currently available Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM for Xperia Z1 comes from XDA-Developers Forum member DooMLoRD, who took their time to modify the code to add support for this smartphone.
According to XperiaBlog, the port is still in its early stages, and some functions don’t work at the moment, such as camera and Wi-Fi.
Those who would like to install it should head over to this thread on XDA-Developers to learn more on it. However, it might prove safer to wait for the official update to land.Xperia Z1 Gets Android 4.4.2 Port (from Xperia Z Ultra GP) Owners of a Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone interested in getting a taste of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system can now do so, courtesy of a ROM that has been ported from the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition.
