Responsibilities


Attract SES TechCom contracts by supporting the various ‘request for
proposal’ phases like proposal preparation, proposal handover and
proposal negotiation.

Either support or be responsible for:

• (Lead) Project Realisation in the field of Inter-Company, External and Governmental/Institutions;
  

• (Lead) Support design, specification and implementation of:
  
  
  
  • Satellite communication uplink and receive stations (fixed or transportable);
    
  • Encoding, multiplexing and modulation infrastructure;
    
  • TT&C systems, earth station equipment, measurement, communications and monitoring & control systems;
    
  • Operation centres for broadcast, ground operations and ground control;
    
  • Carrier and spectrum monitoring system and interference location systems;
    
  • SES TechCom own products;

• Satellite communications uplink and receive only stations (fixed, transportable and/or mobile);
  
• Encoding, multiplexing and modulation infrastructure;
  
• TT&C systems, earth station equipment, measurement, communications and monitoring & control systems;
  
• Operation centers for broadcast, ground operations and ground control;
  
• Carrier and spectrum monitoring system and interference location systems;
  
• SES TechCom own products;
  
• Collect customer requirements, perform system design, setup budgets,
  handle procurements, manage installations and the operational handover
  of satellite operations ground segment and communications systems;
  
• Use professional project management tools as appropriated to report and document project realizations;
  
• Follow-up of delivered systems during lifetime operations;
  
• Manage technical customer relationships;
  
• Support the yearly preparation of SES TechCom Operational and Capital Expenses budgets;
  
• Provide inputs for weekly report preparations;
  
• Follow-up and understand the related products and systems market;
  
• Promote the SES TechCom Products and Services in the Satellite Industry and Satellite Communication Markets;
  
• Travel as required to visit Customers, Vendors and attend exhibitions, conferences, workgroup meetings.
  

Experience/Qualifications

• University degree in RF, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering, or equivalent;
  
• An additional degree in Computer Science would be an asset;
  
• Minimum of 4-5 years of applicable professional experience in
  satellite ground station design, realisation and acceptance testing;
  
• For a “Senior Engineer” position a minimum of 10 years of applicable professional experience is required.
  

Specific Knowledge:


Satellite communications in general and more specific: RF, Low Noise
and High Power Amplification, Frequency Conversion up to Ka-band, Phase
Shifting, Antenna theory, Digital Signal Processing (e.g. filter, phase
and amplitude control…), CAD programs like AutoCAD 2D, 3D, Google
SketchUp (3D), Matlab (experience expected), Computer Science expertise
(e.g. Network Configuration, Hardware, Application Development &
Integration …), basic knowledge of civil works design like antenna
foundation, power networks and fibre optics distribution, ability to
perform ground station acceptance tests on your own in front of the
customer, Pre-Sales activities (cost calculation for potential new
projects).
