competitive compensation.The Gas Engine Design Leader is a senior level
engineering position that supports the Engineering group in an expert
level design capacity. He/she will work on complex and/or senior level
engine design activities as required to meet the intent and intended
purpose of new product development and existing product support. In this
position you will utilize your expert level engineering design skills,
CAE experience, and GE’s quality system procedures to support the
engineering group.

Essential Responsibilities:


Create new product designs and product assemblies, in particular for
industrial engines, of a highly complex nature, & solve
design-related problems.

Work on & lead others to:

• Procure prototype hardware for design verification, product release,
  and trouble-shooting production and field service type problems.
  “Other’s” may include the following: development engineers, product
  designers, other design engineers, manufacturing, purchasing,
  application engineering, marketing, service, contracted engineering
  consultants, and suppliers.
  
• Develop technical requirements while working closely with technical and cross-functional personnel.
  
• Perform extensive engineering studies and calculations within the scope of asssigned work.
  
• Lead and prepare design reviews of work products of a complex nature.
  
• Oversee project progress and provide leadership and direct
  activities of other engineering personnel, in particular other design
  engineers and product designers.
  
• Participate in project technical design reviews of complex nature.
  
• Ensure all required business system transactions associated with EN releases are completed as required.
  
• Provide technical support to other functional areas as required.
  
• Lead as engineering representative on a major project team.
  
• Assume leadership role of a cross functional team as required.
  
• Participate in and assist with the creation and development of GE Gas Engine quality documents.
  
• Will require occasional domestic and international travel.
  

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited Technical College or
  University is required. Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is
  preferred.
  
• Minimum of 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
  
• Demonstrated proficiency utilizing mechanical engineering skills to
  analyze technical requirements and applying appropriate skill set to
  design and detail complex components and assemblies, in particular
  experice with reciprocating internal combustion engines.
  
• Industrial engine design background with experience designing large castings, forgings, and weldments.
  
• Proficiency in managing technical and organizational assignments.
  
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  
• Communication & Interpersonal skills required to function effectively with engineering and inter-department team.
  
• Must embrace continuous improvement and have a strong desire to learn.
  
• Knowledge of manufacturing, quality, and assembly processes and experience working with the associated functional organizations.
  
• Design experience with internal combustion engines/genset component & assemblies.
  
• Knowledge and experience in the use of rapid prototype techniques.
